How long does a MacBook repair take?

Because the work is done in-house, most jobs are finished much faster than a manufacturer repair. We keep common parts in stock and can often fix your Mac the same day, and sometimes while you wait.

Logic board repair without replacing the whole board

The logic board is your Mac's main circuit board. It carries the processor along with the power, charging and display circuits, so one failed component can leave a MacBook with no power, no picture or no charge.

Where a logic board has failed, we repair the faulty component instead of replacing the whole board, which usually costs far less.

On Apple silicon MacBooks the storage is soldered to the logic board, so when the board fails your files are on it too. If there is data you need back, tell us when you book and see data recovery.

What to do if you spill liquid on your MacBook

Liquid damage is the second most common MacBook problem in our repair records, just behind screen faults.

Act fast: switch the MacBook off straight away, unplug the charger and don't turn it back on to test it. Liquid left on the logic board causes corrosion that gets worse the longer it sits, so bring it in as soon as you can.

Before you bring your Mac in

  • Back it up with Time Machine or iCloud if it still starts
  • Note what happens, when it started and what you've tried
  • Bring your charger if the fault is with charging or power
  • Stop using a MacBook with a swollen battery

MacBook repair questions

How much does a MacBook screen replacement cost?

It depends on the model. Retina and Apple silicon MacBooks and older pre-Retina MacBooks are priced separately in our MacBook repair price list. Those are starting prices for parts and labour, and we confirm your exact price before any work starts.

Is a swollen MacBook battery dangerous?

It can be. A swollen battery may lift the trackpad, bulge the bottom case or stop the lid closing flat. Stop using and charging the MacBook, don't press on or pierce the battery, and bring it in for a battery replacement.

My MacBook isn't in your list of models. Can you still repair it?

Yes. Newer Macs are repaired too. Book and tell us which model you have, and we'll reply with a price.

Do MacBook repairs come with a warranty?

Yes. Mac repairs come with a 3-month warranty.

Do I need an appointment for a Mac repair?

No. Walk in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, at London Bridge (80 Willow Walk, SE1 5SY) or Beckenham (21 Village Way, BR3 3NA).
