Background

About the Apple PowerBook G3 14" M7109

Sold 1998–1999

The Apple PowerBook G3 14" M7109 is the 233 MHz entry model of the revised PowerBook G3 Series, generally known as PDQ, sold from 1 September 1998 to 10 May 1999.

It answered the criticism of the earlier 233 MHz machine by adding a 512 KB backside cache, and it made the 14.1-inch, 1024 by 768 active-matrix display standard even at the bottom of the range. Video memory is 4 MB, and the standard specification was a 2 GB hard drive and a 20-speed CD-ROM, with a DVD-ROM drive offered to order from October 1998. The case and expansion bays are those of the original Wallstreet. It was replaced by the thinner Bronze Keyboard model.
