Background

About the Apple MacBook Pro 15" MA610

Sold 2006–2007

Apple MacBook Pro 15" MA610 is the 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo configuration of the 15-inch MacBook Pro sold from 24 October 2006 to 5 June 2007, the upper of the two standard 15-inch models in that period.

The Late 2006 generation, model number A1211, looks the same as the first MacBook Pro but is a 64-bit machine, and it regained FireWire 800 alongside FireWire 400. It still uses ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics and a fluorescent-backlit 1440 by 900 display, which separates it from the NVIDIA-equipped, LED-backlit model that followed in mid 2007. That means it avoids the GeForce 8600M GT fault of its successors. Typical age-related problems are worn batteries, failing hard drives and dim display backlights.
