Background

About the Apple PowerBook G3 13" M6481

Introduced 1998

The Apple PowerBook G3 13" M6481 combines the entry-level 233 MHz processor of the 1998 PowerBook G3 Series with the 13.3-inch active-matrix display. It was listed from 6 May 1998 and discontinued on 1 September, when the Wallstreet range was revised.

Compared with the 12.1-inch 233 MHz models it gains a higher-resolution 1024 by 768 screen, 4 MB of video memory and an S-video output, but it keeps the same PowerPC 740 without a level 2 cache, so performance is well below that of the 250 MHz M6357. As with all 13.3-inch Wallstreets, the display ribbon cable is the part with a reputation for early failure. Internal hard drives larger than 128 GB are not supported.
