Background

About the Apple iBook G4 14" M9848

Sold 2005–2006

With a 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, the Apple iBook G4 14" M9848 was the fastest iBook Apple sold and the last 14.1-inch model. It was introduced on 26 July 2005 with a SuperDrive as standard, 512 MB of memory, a 60 GB hard drive and Radeon 9550 graphics, plus built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0.

This revision also brought the two-finger scrolling trackpad and the sudden motion sensor first seen on the PowerBook G4. It was discontinued on 16 May 2006 when the Intel MacBook replaced the iBook line. Memory can be taken to 1.5 GB. Any example still in use will be running a hard drive and battery far beyond their intended lifespan unless they have been replaced.
