Background

About the Apple iBook G3 14" M7701

Introduced 2002

M7701 is the order number of the very first 14.1-inch iBook, introduced in January 2002 and sold until that May. It was closely modelled on the 600 MHz combo drive 12.1-inch iBook of late 2001, adding the bigger screen, 256 MB of memory as standard, a 20 GB hard drive and a higher-capacity battery. Graphics were still the ATI Rage Mobility 128 with 8 MB of video memory.

The Apple iBook G3 14" M7701 weighs about 2.7 kg. Its screen has the same pixel count as the smaller iBook, so it shows the same amount of content at a larger size, and its age now shows mainly in worn batteries, slow original drives and the logic board faults common to this family.
