Background

About the Apple MacBook Pro 17" MA092

Introduced 2006

MA092 is Apple's order number for the 2.16 GHz Core Duo 17-inch MacBook Pro, the launch configuration of the 17-inch size. It was introduced on 24 April 2006 as the successor to the 17-inch PowerBook G4 and withdrawn on 24 October 2006 in favour of a Core 2 Duo version.

The specification was the fullest in the 2006 range: a 1680 by 1050 widescreen display, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics and both FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 ports, the latter missing from the 15-inch at the time. Apple MacBook Pro 17" MA092 machines carry the model number A1151. They are limited to 32-bit software and Mac OS X 10.6, and after two decades most need attention to the battery or hard drive.
