Background

About the Apple MacBook Pro 15" A1150

Introduced 2006

A1150 is the model number of the first 15-inch MacBook Pro, announced on 10 January 2006 and sold until October that year. It replaced the 15-inch PowerBook G4, keeping a similar aluminium case but moving to Intel Core Duo processors, at 1.83, 2.0 and 2.16 GHz as shipped.

New features included the MagSafe power connector, a built-in iSight camera, an ExpressCard/34 slot in place of the PC Card slot and ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics. The 15.4-inch display has a resolution of 1440 by 900. Unlike its predecessor this first version has no FireWire 800 port. The Core Duo is a 32-bit processor, so these machines cannot run anything later than Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Surviving examples are about twenty years old, with aged batteries and hard drives.
