Background

About the Apple iBook G4 12" M9846

Sold 2005–2006

The final 12.1-inch iBook, the Apple iBook G4 12" M9846, was introduced on 26 July 2005 and stayed in the range until the MacBook replaced it in May 2006. It has a 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB of memory, a 40 GB hard drive and ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 graphics, and both AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0 are built in.

Two features came across from the PowerBook G4: a trackpad that scrolls with two fingers and a sudden motion sensor that protects the hard drive if the laptop is dropped. Memory can be raised to 1.5 GB. As the last of the line it is the most capable small iBook, though still a PowerPC machine limited to older software.
