About the Apple PowerBook G3 13

Introduced 1998

Apple PowerBook G3 13 refers to the 13.3-inch version of the PowerBook G3 Series, the Wallstreet generation introduced on 6 May 1998. The 13.3-inch active-matrix screen, with a resolution of 1024 by 768, was the middle choice between the 12.1-inch passive-matrix and 14.1-inch panels, and was most often sold with the 250 MHz processor.

It was short-lived. The ribbon cable feeding the display was prone to failing where it passes through the hinge, which led to many warranty repairs, and Apple dropped the size when it revised the range in September 1998. Every later PowerBook G3 used a 14.1-inch screen. A flickering or blank display on one of these machines is often traced to that cable.
