About the Apple MacBook Pro 15" MA601

Introduced 2006

MA601 denotes the 2.16 GHz Core Duo version of the first-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro, the fastest 15-inch model of 2006. It was available from 14 February 2006 as a build-to-order upgrade and became a standard configuration on 16 May, remaining so until 24 October 2006.

It was supplied with a 100 GB hard drive and the 256 MB version of the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. Apple's own naming for the post-May machine refers to the glossy screen option introduced at that time, although a matte display remained standard. The Apple MacBook Pro 15" MA601 shares the A1150 chassis with the 1.83 and 2.0 GHz models, including MagSafe, the iSight camera and two USB 2.0 ports alongside a single FireWire 400 port.
