Background

About the Apple iBook G4 14" M9388

Sold 2003–2004

The Apple iBook G4 14" M9388 is the 933 MHz model from the first iBook G4 line, sold between October 2003 and April 2004. It was the less expensive of the two 14.1-inch versions, with a 40 GB hard drive where the 1.0 GHz machine had 60 GB. The move from G3 to G4 brought a 133 MHz bus, DDR memory, USB 2.0 ports and a slot-loading combo drive, while the white case and 1024 by 768 screen stayed familiar.

Standard memory was 256 MB. At about 2.7 kg it is noticeably heavier than the 12.1-inch iBook. Display faults linked to the graphics chip have been reported on early iBook G4 machines such as this one.
