Background

About the Apple MacBook Air 13.3" MB543LL

Sold 2008–2009

The Apple MacBook Air 13.3" MB543LL is the hard drive version of the Late 2008 Air, on sale from October 2008 to June 2009. Outwardly identical to the original, it was substantially revised inside: a 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo on a faster 1066 MHz bus, DDR3 memory, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics and a Mini DisplayPort that can drive external screens up to 2560 by 1600. Storage is a 120 GB 1.8-inch SATA hard drive.

The model number on the case is A1304. Memory is soldered at 2 GB with no upgrade path. The small 4200 rpm drive is the main performance bottleneck and, being mechanical, a likely point of failure in a machine of this age.
