Background

About the Apple PowerBook G4 15" A1106

Introduced 2005

A1106 is the model number of the 15-inch aluminium PowerBook G4 sold from 31 January to 19 October 2005, in 1.5 GHz Combo drive and 1.67 GHz SuperDrive versions. It was the penultimate 15-inch PowerBook.

This revision introduced the Sudden Motion Sensor to protect the hard drive, a two-finger scrolling trackpad, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a brighter illuminated keyboard. The display remained 1280 by 854, with ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics. Aluminium 15-inch models are associated with failure of the lower memory slot, which leaves the machine recognising only one module; Apple ran a repair extension programme for it. Some 1.5 and 1.67 GHz PowerBooks also go to sleep unexpectedly because of faulty sensor readings.
