Background

About the Apple MacBook Pro 15" MA609

Sold 2006–2007

The order number MA609 belongs to the 2.16 GHz model of the Late 2006 15-inch MacBook Pro, introduced on 24 October 2006 and sold until 5 June 2007. This was the first revision of the MacBook Pro, replacing the 32-bit Core Duo with the 64-bit Core 2 Duo.

Besides the processor, Apple doubled the standard memory, fitted larger hard drives and restored the FireWire 800 port that the first 15-inch MacBook Pro had lacked. Graphics remained the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600, and the case and 15.4-inch display were unchanged, though the model number moved from A1150 to A1211. MA609 was the lower of the two 15-inch configurations, below the 2.33 GHz MA610. The Santa Rosa generation succeeded it.
