Background

About the Apple PowerBook G4 17" M9462

Sold 2004–2005

M9462 is the 1.5 GHz 17-inch PowerBook G4, the third revision of the model, available from 19 April 2004 to 31 January 2005. Its model number is A1085.

The update followed the pattern of the rest of the 2004 PowerBook range: a PowerPC 7447a on a 167 MHz bus, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics with 64 MB of memory, or 128 MB to order, and a faster 4x SuperDrive. Connections include DVI, S-video, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 400 and 800, two USB 2.0 ports and a PC Card slot. It does not have the Sudden Motion Sensor or scrolling trackpad, which arrived with the 1.67 GHz model. Some 1.5 GHz aluminium PowerBooks suffer from unexpected sleep linked to faulty sensors.
