Background

About the Sony VAIO PCG T Series

Sold 2003–2004

Sony VAIO PCG T Series most commonly means the PCG-TR models introduced in 2003. The TR was a compact travel notebook with a 10.6-inch widescreen display, a built-in optical drive and a small rotating camera above the screen, all in a case weighing roughly 1.4 kg. It used low-power Intel Pentium M processors on the Centrino platform, which gave it much better battery life than earlier small VAIOs, and it was among the first VAIO notebooks with Sony's glossy high-contrast screen finish.

In 2004 the similar VGN-T series took over, followed by the TX in 2005. Machines of this age generally need attention to the battery, hard drive and optical drive, and replacement screens are hard to find.
