Background

About the Sony VAIO PCG SR Series

Sold 2000–2002

Launched in 2000, the Sony VAIO PCG SR Series was a 10.4-inch subnotebook that followed the N505 as Sony's smallest mainstream business portable. It was designed for people who carried a computer every day and accepted external floppy and optical drives in exchange for low weight. Mobile Pentium III and Celeron processors were used.

The SRX models that followed in 2001 and 2002 kept the same compact format with faster processors, and some added built-in wireless networking at a time when that was still unusual. The TR series took over the role in 2003. Keyboards and screens on machines this small are cramped and parts are scarce, and original batteries and hard drives are generally at the end of their life.
