Background

About the Dell Vostro 1200

Sold 2007–2009

Dell added a compact model to the first Vostro generation on 18 December 2007 in the shape of the Dell Vostro 1200. With a 12.1-inch display it was the smallest Vostro of its time, intended for business users who travelled and wanted something lighter than the 14 and 15-inch models launched that summer.

It used Intel Core 2 Duo processors of around 2 GHz with Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics, so it avoided the troublesome NVIDIA graphics chips fitted to some larger laptops of the same period. Dell replaced it in 2009 with the Vostro 1220. As with any laptop from 2007, the original battery will hold little charge and the hard drive is long overdue for replacement.
