Background

About the Dell Vostro 1088

Sold 2009–2010

Dell Vostro 1088 dates from 2009 and was introduced together with the Vostro 1014 and 1015 as an affordable laptop for small businesses. It is a 14.1-inch machine with an LED-backlit screen and Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and it shares the matte black styling and general layout of its two siblings.

Dell's own launch announcement gave it less attention than the other two models, and published detail on it is correspondingly thin. Typical features of the family include an optical drive, 802.11n wireless and a multi-format card reader. Being a budget chassis from 2009, it commonly shows worn hinges and keyboard, a failed battery and a mechanical hard drive nearing the end of its life.
