About the Dell Vostro 1000

Sold 2007–2008

Released on 10 July 2007, the Dell Vostro 1000 was the entry-level laptop in the very first Vostro line-up and the only AMD-based model in it. It has a 15.4-inch widescreen display and used AMD Mobile Sempron and Athlon 64 X2 processors on the Socket S1 platform, with ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 integrated graphics.

It was sold as an inexpensive office machine for small firms and sole traders, below the Intel-based Vostro 1400, 1500 and 1700 that launched with it. Performance was modest even when new, and today these laptops are limited by DDR2 memory and slow mechanical hard drives. Plastics, hinges and batteries on a chassis of this age are frequently worn or brittle.
