Background

About the Dell Vostro 1310

Sold 2008–2009

In spring 2008 Dell redesigned the Vostro laptops with a slimmer, squarer black chassis, and the Dell Vostro 1310 was the 13.3-inch model in that second generation. It sat beneath the 15.4-inch Vostro 1510 and 17-inch Vostro 1710 and was aimed at small-business users wanting a portable everyday machine.

Processors were Intel Core 2 Duo and Celeron, with either Intel integrated graphics or an optional NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS. That option matters: the Vostro 1310 was on the list of models Dell published in 2008 as affected by the industry-wide NVIDIA graphics chip fault, which causes display corruption or a blank screen as the chip's internal connections fail. Machines with Intel graphics are not affected.
