About the Dell Studio XPS

Sold 2009–2010

Dell Studio XPS was a short-lived premium tier placed at the top of the Studio consumer range. The first laptops, the Studio XPS 13 and Studio XPS 16, were unveiled in January 2009, and the name was also used on a small family of desktop towers.

The laptops replaced the earlier XPS M1330 and M1530 and were recognisable by a leather-trimmed lid, backlit keyboard and slot-loading optical drive. The 16-inch model was known for its optional RGB LED Full HD display. Both started on Core 2 Duo processors, and the 16-inch later moved to Core i5 and i7. In late 2010 Dell folded the line back into a relaunched XPS range. Heat was a recurring complaint, particularly on the 13-inch model.
