Background

About the Dell Latitude V700

The Dell Latitude V700 is the earliest of the V-series machines, a small family of value-priced Latitudes sold in the early 2000s beside the corporate C family. Detailed public documentation for this particular model is thin, so what follows applies to the range as a whole.

The V models were positioned below the C600 and its successors for buyers who wanted the Latitude name and business support at a lower price. They are not documented as sharing the C-family chassis, so common C-series batteries, drives and docks cannot be assumed to fit. The V710 and Pentium 4-based V740 came after it. As with any laptop of roughly this period, the battery, hard drive and screen backlight are the components most affected by age.
