Background

About the Dell Latitude V Series

The Dell Latitude V Series was a short-lived group of lower-priced Latitudes from the early 2000s, comprising the V700, V710 and V740. They were sold alongside the mainstream C family as a cheaper route into the Latitude name and are not documented as sharing the C-series design, so they should not be assumed to take its batteries, bay modules or docking stations.

The V740 is the best documented of the three: a Pentium 4 machine on Intel's 845MZ chipset with DDR memory. The idea of a value Latitude was later carried on by the D5xx models and, from 2007, by the separate Vostro brand for small businesses. Parts for V-series machines are scarcer than for the far more numerous C600 and C640.
