Background

About the Dell Inspiron 2000

Introduced c. 2000

The Dell Inspiron 2000 is one of the early Inspiron models from around the turn of the millennium, when the range was numbered in thousands and ran from slim portables to large multimedia machines such as the Inspiron 7500 and 8000. Its low number marks it as one of the smaller, lighter models in that line-up.

Firm model-level detail is scarce, but the character of the range is well recorded. Inspirons of that period used Intel Celeron and Pentium III class processors, small IDE hard drives and fluorescent-backlit screens. After more than twenty years, batteries are dead, plastics are brittle and backlights and hard drives are prone to failure.
