About the Dell Inspiron 2600

Sold 2002–2003

Released in 2002, the Dell Inspiron 2600 was a value-priced consumer laptop and a close copy of the Latitude V710 that Dell sold to businesses. It was offered with 14.1-inch or 15-inch displays, including a high-resolution 15-inch SXGA+ option.

It was sold alongside the similar-looking Inspiron 2650, which had a faster specification, and both were positioned below the Inspiron 4100 and 8200. These are substantial machines with built-in optical and floppy drives. Two decades later the typical problems are exhausted batteries, failing backlights, noisy hard drives and cracks in the casing and hinges.
