About the Dell Inspiron 2200

Introduced 2005

The Dell Inspiron 2200 was introduced in 2005 as the successor to the Inspiron 1000 and was Dell's basic home laptop for that year. It used Intel Celeron M or Pentium M processors with an XGA screen and was promoted as an essentials model with a low starting price.

Its closest relative was the Inspiron 1200, sold at the same time. The 2200 was itself replaced in late 2005 by the widescreen Inspiron 1300. The Pentium M platform runs far cooler than the Pentium 4 based budget Inspirons before it. What fails now is mostly down to age: batteries, IDE hard drives, screen backlights and brittle casing.
