About the Dell Inspiron 2500

Sold 2001–2002

The Dell Inspiron 2500 was a budget laptop sold in 2001, offering Intel Celeron or Pentium III processors and integrated graphics in a conventional thick chassis with built-in drives. It was the affordable choice in a range that also contained the slimmer Inspiron 4000 and the larger Inspiron 8000.

It was replaced in 2002 by the Inspiron 2600. Like most laptops of its generation it has a fluorescent-backlit screen, a small IDE hard drive and limited memory capacity. Working examples are rare, and those that remain generally need a replacement battery, attention to the backlight or inverter and careful handling of aged plastic parts.
