Background

About the Dell Inspiron 1764

Introduced c. 2010

The Dell Inspiron 1764 was the 17.3-inch member of the Inspiron trio that adopted Intel's first Core i3 and Core i5 mobile processors around the start of 2010. It was offered with the Core i3-330M or Core i5-430M and typically a 500GB hard drive.

The glossy display has a resolution of 1600 x 900 and the laptop weighs about 2.9kg, so it was a desk-bound family computer in practice. It replaced the Core 2 based Inspiron 1750. A machine of this age usually benefits from a new battery and a solid-state drive, and the fan and heatsink should be cleared of dust.
