About the Dell Inspiron 1564

Introduced c. 2010

The Dell Inspiron 1564 took over from the Inspiron 1545 as Dell's mainstream 15.6-inch home laptop around the start of 2010. Its significance was the processor: it was among the first Inspirons with Intel's original Core i3 and Core i5 mobile chips, which include the graphics within the processor package.

It was sold with the 14-inch Inspiron 1464 and 17.3-inch Inspiron 1764, all three using a similar plastic design. The model had a short life, being replaced within months by the restyled Inspiron 15R. First-generation Core i machines are still usable for light tasks once given a solid-state drive, though batteries are usually spent.
