About the Sony VAIO VGN CR

Sold 2007–2008

Colour was the selling point of the Sony VAIO VGN CR, a 14.1-inch widescreen notebook introduced in 2007 on Intel's Santa Rosa generation of Core 2 Duo processors. It replaced the 13.3-inch C Series and was offered in several bright finishes, with a built-in webcam and a row of media buttons.

It occupied the mainstream home position between the entry-level 15.4-inch N and NR models and the premium SZ. The VGN CS took over in 2008. Typical age-related repairs involve the battery, the hard drive and the cooling fan, which gathers dust over the years.
