Background

About the Sony VAIO VGN B Series

Sold 2004–2005

Aimed at companies more than home buyers, the Sony VAIO VGN B Series was a plain 14.1-inch business notebook sold in 2004 and 2005. It used Intel Pentium M processors on the Centrino platform with integrated graphics, a conventional 4:3 screen and a built-in optical drive, and was offered with Windows XP Professional.

It was Sony's attempt to win corporate orders with a sober design at a time when most VAIO notebooks were styled for consumers. The BX range succeeded it. Any example still in use will have an IDE hard drive and an original battery well past its working life.
