Background

About the Sony VAIO VGN BX

Sold 2005–2007

Sony VAIO VGN BX was the company's business notebook range from 2005 to about 2007, following the B Series. It began with Intel Pentium M processors and later moved to Core Duo and Core 2 Duo, and it was designed around corporate requirements: a fingerprint reader, a TPM security chip, hard drive shock protection and a connector for a desktop port replicator.

Styling was deliberately restrained compared with the consumer VAIO models of the time. The range was replaced in 2008 by the VGN BZ. Batteries and mechanical hard drives are the usual weak points at this age, and replacement parts are less plentiful than for the mainstream consumer series.
