Background

About the Dell Latitude D631

Sold 2007–2008

Dell produced the Latitude D631 in 2007 as an AMD-based counterpart to the Intel D630. The Dell Latitude D631 used the same 14.1-inch widescreen D-family design and accessories but an AMD processor and chipset, and it was sold mainly outside the United States, which is why it is far less common than its Intel sibling.

Together with the larger-screened D531 it formed Dell's small AMD offering in the final D-series generation, before the E series arrived in 2008. Because it does not use the NVIDIA graphics chip found in many D630 machines, it is not associated with that model's well-known video failures. Remaining examples mostly suffer from tired batteries and ageing hard drives.
