Background

About the Dell Latitude D610

Sold 2005–2006

The Dell Latitude D610, released in early 2005, was the second-generation mainstream D-series laptop. It kept the D600's 14-inch standard-aspect format but moved to Intel's Sonoma platform, bringing a 533 MHz front-side bus, DDR2 memory and a choice between Intel GMA 900 integrated graphics and an ATI Radeon X300.

Dell pitched it at business users who travelled, and it remained compatible with existing D-family docks and bay modules. One documented quirk is electrical noise or whine on the headphone output of versions with the Radeon X300. Its batteries fell within Dell's 2006 recall of packs containing Sony cells. The widescreen, dual-core D620 replaced it in 2006.
