Background

About the Dell Latitude D620

Sold 2006–2007

Dell's first business laptop with a dual-core processor, the Dell Latitude D620 was introduced in March 2006. It changed the mainstream Latitude to a 14.1-inch widescreen display and launched with Intel Core Duo chips on the 945 chipset, later gaining the 64-bit Core 2 Duo. The chipset's addressing limit means only about 3.3 to 3.5 GB of memory is usable.

A semi-rugged ATG version was also built on it. Early production suffered from backlight bleed on the screen, corrected within the first year. Models with NVIDIA graphics are subject to the solder cracking that affected NVIDIA chips of this period and can lose video as a result, and D620 batteries were named in the 2006 Sony cell recall.
