About the Dell Latitude CPi R

Introduced 1999

One of the last Pentium II members of the CPi family, the Dell Latitude CPi R dates from 1999 and is normally encountered as the R400GT. Under Dell's naming scheme of the time the figure gives the processor speed, here a 400 MHz mobile Pentium II, and the GT suffix denotes a 14.1-inch XGA display, a step up from the 12.1 and 13.3-inch panels of earlier CPi versions.

It shared the CP-generation chassis, modular bay and docking connector with its siblings, and was overtaken within months by the Pentium III-based CPx. As with any laptop from the late 1990s, a worn-out battery, a noisy or failed hard drive and fragile plastics are typical.
