Background

About the Dell Latitude CPx H

Sold 1999–2000

With the Dell Latitude CPx H, launched in late 1999, Dell's mainstream corporate laptop moved to the mobile Pentium III. Versions such as the H450GT and H500GT paired 450 or 500 MHz processors with a 14.1-inch XGA screen. A government lab test of a 500 MHz CPx early in 2000 recorded ATI Mobility M1 graphics with 8 MB of memory, both a pointing stick and a touchpad, and a weight of 6 pounds 12 ounces.

The same design was sold to consumers as the Inspiron 3700. It was succeeded during 2000 by the CPx J, which added SpeedStep processors. Survivors generally need a new battery, and their original hard drives are at the end of their life.
