About the Dell Latitude CPx J

Sold 2000–2001

The Dell Latitude CPx J was the 2000 update of the Pentium III CPx and brought Intel SpeedStep, which lowers processor speed on battery power, to the line. It debuted as the J650GT with a 650 MHz mobile Pentium III and a 14.1-inch XGA display, and a 750 MHz J750GT had joined it by June 2000. Dell sold it as the mainstream Latitude, with the Celeron-based CPt S below it.

Its consumer equivalent was the Inspiron 3800. The CPx J was the last of the CP-shaped Latitudes before the C600 generation took over. Ageing batteries and mechanical hard drives are the main concerns on a machine this old, and CCFL screen backlights dim with long use.
