Background

About the Dell Inspiron M5030

Sold 2010–2011

The Dell Inspiron M5030 was the AMD-based entry model in Dell's 2010 15.6-inch range, sold as the Inspiron 15. It is the sibling of the Intel-powered N5030 and sat a rung below the better-equipped Inspiron 15R (M5010 and N5010), with a plainer case and a more basic specification.

It was fitted with budget AMD mobile processors and integrated ATI Radeon graphics, and it was sold on price to households and students needing a basic full-size laptop. Specifications were modest even when new, so these machines benefit greatly from a solid-state drive. Typical faults now are worn batteries, failing hard drives and overheating caused by dust in the cooling system.
