Background

About the Dell Inspiron Mini

Sold 2008–2011

Inspiron Mini was Dell's range of netbooks, introduced in September 2008 with the 8.9-inch Mini 9 and sold until about 2010 or 2011. It grew to include the 12.1-inch Mini 12, the 10.1-inch Mini 10 and cheaper Mini 10v of 2009, and later 10.1-inch versions known by the numbers 1012 and 1018. All used Intel Atom processors and most ran Windows XP, Windows 7 Starter or Ubuntu.

The Mini models were small, inexpensive second computers for web and email. Early ones used small solid-state drives; later ones had conventional hard disks. They were limited to 1 or 2 GB of memory, so all are slow today. Common repairs are batteries, cracked screens and worn keyboards.
