About the Dell Vostro 1710

Sold 2008–2009

As the 17-inch model in Dell's 2008 Vostro redesign, the Dell Vostro 1710 took over from the Vostro 1700 with a slimmer black chassis matching the smaller 1310 and 1510. It kept Core 2 Duo processors and was intended for small businesses that wanted a large screen for spreadsheets or design work in a machine that seldom left the desk.

An NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS was the discrete graphics option. Dell listed the Vostro 1710 among the laptops affected by the NVIDIA graphics defect acknowledged in 2008, and released BIOS updates that ran the fan more often to slow the damage. Failed graphics remain the characteristic fault. The Vostro 1720 succeeded it in 2009.
