Background

About the Dell Vostro 1720

Sold 2009–2010

Dell Vostro 1720 was the 17-inch business laptop in Dell's 2009 line-up, an update of the Vostro 1710 on Intel's Montevina platform. Core 2 Duo processors were paired with Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics or, for more demanding work, an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS.

It was the last 17-inch Vostro in the original numbering scheme and was priced as an inexpensive desktop replacement for small firms. In March 2010 Dell introduced the 17.3-inch Vostro 3700 as its successor. Problems on surviving machines are mostly down to age, including tired batteries, slow hard drives and worn hinges.
