Background

About the Dell Latitude D530

Sold 2007–2008

Introduced in 2007, the Dell Latitude D530 is remembered chiefly as the last Latitude sold with a standard-aspect, non-widescreen display. It was the entry-level Intel model of the final D-series generation, using Core 2 Duo-era processors, and sat beside the widescreen D630 for buyers who wanted to keep the taller 4:3 screen shape.

An AMD-based sister model, the D531, was sold at the same time with a widescreen panel. The D530 kept D-family docking and D/Bay compatibility, which mattered to organisations with existing accessories. It was discontinued when the E5400 and E5500 arrived in 2008. Typical faults today are age-related rather than specific to the design.
