About the Dell Latitude D410

Sold 2005–2006

The Dell Latitude D410 replaced the D400 in 2005 as Dell's 12.1-inch business ultraportable. It retained the compact standard-aspect design and external D/Bay optical drive of its predecessor but moved to the newer Dothan generation of Pentium M processors and added a Trusted Platform Module security chip, which corporate buyers were beginning to ask for.

It was the last of the line with a 4:3 screen: the D420 of 2006 switched to a widescreen panel and low-voltage Core processors. Batteries supplied with the D410 were among those covered by Dell's 2006 recall of packs using Sony cells, so any original battery should be regarded with suspicion as well as simply being worn out.
