Background

About the Dell Latitude C800

Sold 2000–2001

The Dell Latitude C800 was the large-screen model of the C family, released in 2000. It was a 15-inch desktop replacement for business users, with mobile Pentium III processors and, for its time, very high display resolutions; the C family was among the first to offer a 1600 by 1200 UXGA panel. The same design was sold to home buyers as the Inspiron 8000.

It was followed by the Pentium III-M-based C810 in 2001 and the C840 in 2002. It suited users who needed screen space and graphics capability more than portability. It is a heavy machine, and any still in service will show its age through a failed battery, a noisy hard drive and worn hinges.
