Background

About the Dell Studio 1535

Sold 2008–2009

Dell launched its Studio brand in mid-2008, and the Dell Studio 1535 was the Intel-based 15.4-inch model at the centre of that launch. It used Pentium dual-core and Core 2 Duo processors with DDR2 memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 could be specified in place of integrated graphics.

The design introduced features that defined the range: a wedge-shaped body, a slot-loading DVD drive, touch-sensitive media and eject keys and an optional fingerprint reader. The 1536 was the AMD equivalent and the 1537 a later version on a newer Intel platform. Owners of this generation reported the touch-sensitive buttons becoming unresponsive, a fault associated with the MediaDirect and eject keys staying lit after power-on.
