About the Dell Studio 1458

Sold 2010–2011

The last of the 14-inch Studio models, Dell Studio 1458 appeared in 2010 when Intel's first Core i3 and Core i5 mobile processors arrived. It replaced the Core 2 Duo based 1450 and was sold alongside Core i7 options carried over from the 1457, so one chassis covered everything from a basic dual-core to a quad-core.

Graphics were either Intel HD Graphics, integrated in the new processors, or a discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 or HD 5450. Memory was DDR3 throughout. When Dell discontinued the Studio name in 2011, the Inspiron and XPS ranges covered the 14-inch size instead. Batteries and mechanical hard drives from this period are the usual weak points.
