Background

About the Dell Latitude E6400

Sold 2008–2010

The Dell Latitude E6400 led the launch of the E series in 2008 as the mainstream 14.1-inch corporate laptop, replacing the D630. It was a complete redesign with a squared-off chassis, Core 2 Duo processors and the new E-Port docking connector, and it was offered with either Intel integrated graphics or an NVIDIA Quadro NVS chip.

It became one of the most widely deployed business laptops of its time and also formed the basis of the semi-rugged E6400 ATG and fully rugged E6400 XFR. In 2009 owners reported the processor being throttled heavily under load, particularly on NVIDIA-equipped machines, and Dell issued BIOS updates in response. The E6410 took over in 2010 with Core i5 and i7 processors.
